Welcome to the silent world of CCR diving

Learning to dive a closed circuit rebreather (CCR) unit, is like being an Open Water student diver all over again! Let us welcome you to the world of truly quiet diving where you become like them and have truly up close encounters wtih the marine life.

Starting with the Mod1 CCR Diver course, you will learn your basic CCR diver skill set including building your unit, packing your scrubber and the positive and negative checks. You will learn pre-dive checks, pre-dive planning procedures and emergency procedures. In-water skills include buoyancy, trim, and positioning, safe desent and ascent techniques, all unit checks, deployment of SMB and mask removal and replace. You will also learn about gas planning, dive planning and you'll increase your underwater handsignals and communication skills.

The Mod1 Air Diluent No Decompression Diver course is for divers that would like to learn to dive on a CCR. As you build up your knowledge, skills, experience and dives, you'll be able to upgrade through the different Mod1 courses:
- Mod1 Air Diluent Decompression Diver and
- Mod1 Helitrox Decompression Diver
to increase your dive time and maximum depth utilising different gases.

You will have chosen your unit by now and perhaps bought one second-hand or new through us or organised renting one of ours for the duration of your course. If not, then when not do a CCR Try Dive with us on the SF2. Contact us for information on buying a unit through us or renting one for your course.

Mod1 Air Diluent No Decompression Diver Course

Prerequisites

Minimum age:Minimum of 18 years old
Diver Level:TDI Nitrox Diver or equivalent
Logged dives:Minimum of 20
Other:If you choose to learn the SF2 Sidemount, you must hold the TDI Sidemount Diver certification or equivalent and provide proof of 10 logged sidemount dives

Depth:30m maximum certification depth
Dives:1 confined

Decompression:No decompression is allowed
Gases:Air diluent and air bailout
Other:You will also need to have the manufacturers manual.

Prerequisites

Minimum age:Minimum of 18 years old
Diver Level:TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver and Deco Procedures Diver or equivalent
Logged dives:Minimum of 50
Other:If you choose to learn the SF2 Sidemount, you must hold the TDI Sidemount Diver certification or equivalent and provide proof of 10 logged sidemount dives

OR

Minimum age:Minimum of 18 years old
Diver Level:TDI Air Diluent CCR Diver certified or equivalent
Hours:Minimum of 30 hours on the CCR unit
Other:Six months CCR diving experience

Mod1 Helitrox Decompression Diver Course

Prerequisites

Minimum age:Minimum of 18 years old
Diver Level:TDI Advanced Nitrox Diver, Deco Procedures Diver or Helitrox Diver or equivalent
Logged dives:Minimum of 50 in total with at least 5 logged staged decompression dives to a minimum depth of 30m
Other:If you choose to learn the SF2 Sidemount, you must hold the TDI Sidemount Diver certification or equivalent and provide proof of 10 logged sidemount dives

OR

Minimum age:Minimum of 18 years old
Diver Level:TDI Air Diluent CCR Diver certified or equivalent
Hours:Minimum of 30 hours and 30 dives on the specific CCR unit
Other:Six months CCR diving experience

Depth:45m maximum certification depth
Dives:1 confined
7 open water
Decompression:maximum decompression obligation of 10 minutes on a single dive
using an air/nitrox/helium diluent for formal decompression diving
Gases:using a diluent and bailout mix with no greater than a 35% helium content and no less than 21% oxygen content and up to 100% oxygen for decompression
Other:You will also need to have the manufacturers manual.

What if I don't achieve the required standard after 6 dives, can I do more dives to achieve the course standard and gain the rating?
CCR Mod1 upgrades Yes, you can do additional dives to achieve the rating. There is an additional cost of €150,00/day plus the cost of sofnalime and gases for you and your instructor.
